Oxycodone is an opioid drug used in the treatment of moderate to severe pain. It comes under a variety of brand names, the most popular of which is OxyContin. This pain reliever is available by prescription only due to its addictive potential. Therefore, it’s essential to identify oxycodone pills, such as oxycodone 5mg, K18 pill or K 57 pill to ensure that one takes only the dose prescribed for them.
What Does Oxycodone Look Like?
Several companies produce oxycodone: either as a generic medication or under an array of brand names. As a result of this, the pills come in various shapes, sizes, and colors. Identifying these and knowing the dosages that they contain can help avoid OxyContin overdose or increased risk of negative health effects.
The K18 pill is one of the most popular oxycodone 5mg pills available. It is white, round, and has a vertical groove separating K and 18 on one side. The K18 pill is manufactured by KVK Tech Inc. Stopping this pill will cause OxyContin withdrawal symptoms, and it’s better to manage them with the help of a healthcare professional.
The K9 pill is much stronger than the K18 pill, as it contains 30mg of oxycodone. However, similar to the K18 pill, KVK Tech Inc also produces it. The K9 pill can be identified by its round shape and blue color. It has K and number 9 on one face.
This tablet is round and green and is one of the oxycodone 15mg tablets that are available. It has K8 written on one of its surfaces. The drug, similar to the preceding entries, is also produced by KVK Tech Inc. The half-life of Oxycodone pills is 3-5 hours.
The K56 pill is one that KVK Tech Inc produces. It is a round, pink tablet with a vertical groove that makes it easy to split. The K56 pill has an imprint of K 56 on the side with the groove. It contains 10mg of the opioid.
K 57 Pill
The K 57 pill, similar to the K56 pill, is manufactured by KVK Tech Inc. The K 57 pill is double the dosage of K56, containing 20mg of the substance. It is gray and round, with a vertical line separating K and 57, hence the name K 57 pill.
Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals is the producer of the M 5 tablet. It has an M situated in a box imprinted on one surface and a 5 above a horizontal line on the other. It’s a white, round oxycodone 5mg tablet. It’s important to note that regardless of dose, addiction can develop if used long enough.
M 30 Pill
The M 30 pill contains 30mg of oxycodone. This round, blue tab has a boxed M logo on one end, and the number 30 imprinted on the other, hence the name: M 30 pill. The M 30 pill is produced by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals.
M 15 Oxycodone
Like the M 30 pill, Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals is also responsible for producing the M 15 tablet. This tablet is an oxycodone 15mg pill and is easy to identify with its boxed M and 15 on either face. It is round and green.
M 05 52
A product of Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, the M 05 52 is a round, white pill that has the company’s M logo on one side and 05 and 52 split by a vertical line on the other. This is an oxycodone 5mg tab.
0554 M 5 mg
This is a capsule offering from Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals, with one shell being brown and the other yellow. The brown half has 0554 imprinted, and the yellow shell has the company’s M over the word 5mg. It indicates it as being a 5mg capsule.
Rhodes Pharmaceuticals L.P. is the maker of the RP 10 tablet. It contains 10mg of the opioid substance. It is white and round, with a big 10 written on one side and R and P vertically arranged on the other.
RP 15 Pill
This pill is also produced by Rhodes Pharmaceuticals L.P. but is an oxycodone 15mg tablet instead. It is oval and white. A 15 on one face represents the dose, and R and P are split by a groove on the other end.
RP 30 is a 30mg tablet of oxycodone, one of the higher dosages commonly prescribed. It’s white and round, with R and P on one of its faces and 30 on the other. Rhodes Pharmaceuticals L.P makes it.
Similarly white and round like RP 30, RP 20 is a 20mg tablet that is round and white. There is a horizontal groove with an R above it and a P below. The flip side has the number 20 written boldly.
Rhodes Pharmaceuticals L.P. is the manufacturer.
RP 5 follows a similar design to the other tablets made by Rhodes Pharmaceuticals L.P.: white and round. It has a large 5 imprinted on one of its sides and R and P on the other. This is an oxycodone 5mg pill. Some addicts search for higher doses when they develop tolerance.
The A 51 pill is another 30 mg oxycodone pill. It is round and blue. The manufacturer is Amneal Pharmaceuticals. It has A and 51 on one of its surfaces. Higher doses of opioids are more likely to cause side effects.
This pill is round and green, with A written over the number 214. The opposite surface of the tablet is blank, with no text. It’s a product of Actavis and contains 15mg of oxycodone.
A 215 is made by Actavis, similar to the A 214. In this case, the drug contains double the dosage, at 30mg. This is a blue, round tab, with one blank side and another that has A imprinted above 215. Patients should take caution with higher doses of opioids.
The V4812 pill is a product of Qualitest Pharmaceuticals, and it is a round tablet colored a light blue. It contains 30mg of oxycodone. It has a stylized V on one of its surfaces and the numbers 48 and 12 separated by a vertical groove.
This tablet is also made by Qualitest Pharmaceuticals, with a stylized V on one of its surfaces and 48 and 10 on the other. It is white and round. This is an oxycodone 5mg tablet, which makes the risk of adverse health effects relatively low.
Alvogen, Inc. is the producer of the ALG 264 tablet. This round tablet is a distinct green tone and contains 15mg of the opioid as its sole active ingredient. One side is blank, though it has a horizontal groove. The other side has the letters ALG written directly on top of 264.
ALG 265 is a blue, round tablet with those letters imprinted right above the numbers on one of its sides. The other side is clean, but for a horizontal line that provides a seam to break the tablet along. This is a 30mg tab. Alvogen, Inc. manufactures it.
112 is named such due to the single imprint on one side, being the number 112. The other side is entirely blank. This is an oxycodone 5mg tab, and Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc manufactures it. The tablet is white and round. The risk of Oxycodone side effects with 5mg tabs is lower than doses like 15mg or 30mg.
113 is a round, peach-colored tablet. It is produced by Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc. and holds 15mg. It has the number 113 written on the upper half of one of its sides.

Similar to 187, 223 is a round pill produced by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Inc. It is white and contains 5mg, the lowest dosage available in tablet or capsule form. It has the number 223 written boldly on a side.
224 is the 30mg tablet option from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Inc. It is light blue and round, with a distinct 224 written on one side. The other side has a horizontal groove for splitting the tablet.
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Inc. also offers a 10mg tablet of the opioid. It can easily be identified by its bright pink coloration and round shape. Additionally, the number 370 can be seen on one of its sides. Opioids should not be used for longer than specified by their doctor for treatment.

Cor 225 is the 15mg tab variant of oxycodone from Corepharma LLC. Similar to Cor 224, it has the word cor written above the number 225. It is light green and round. These features make it quite easy to distinguish from others.
Cor 226 has 30mg of the opioid, which means a patient should be cautious with use. It is blue and round. It’s also produced by Corepharma LLC. It has cor 226 written on one of its faces, with the letters written above the numbers.

U24 is the 30mg tablet option provided by Aurolife Pharma LLC. It is round and blue, with the letter and numbers of U24 boldly emblazoned on one of its sides. The opposite face just has a horizontal groove.
Oxycodone is a drug that is available under several different brand names, though also known as a generic drug for use in pain treatment.
Popular brand names include OxyContin, Roxicodone, Xtampza, OxyIR, and Oxaydo. These drugs contain only oxycodone and no other active ingredients.
However, other drugs contain oxycodone in addition to other medications, such as a combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone, sold under the brand names of Percocet or Endocet. Aspirin and this opioid are another popular combination, sold as Percodan, Endodan, and Roxiprin.
Note that these combination drugs should only be used if the doctor prescribes them. Moreover, some drug interactions may be severe, especially if one mixes oxycodone and alcohol. It can cause severe side effects, respiratory depression and even death.
Dosage Forms of Oxycodone
Oxycodone is available in several forms, which provide versatility for use for patients.
The Forms of This Medication Include the Following:
- Extended-release tablets
- Tablets (immediate-release)
- Extended-release capsules
- Capsules (immediate-release)
Note that the medication is also available in “abuse-deterrent” forms. It aims to reduce abuse rates with prescription opioid drugs, particularly injecting or snorting oxycodone. It does this by becoming a viscous substance when mixed with liquid, preventing it from passing through a needle, or making it physically difficult to crush tablets into powder.
It Is Available in the Following Strengths:
- Immediate-release capsules: 5mg
- Immediate-release tablets: 5mg, 7.5mg, 10mg, 15mg, 20mg, 30mg
- Extended-release capsules: 9mg, 13.5mg, 18mg, 27mg, 36mg
- Extended-release tablets: 10mg, 15mg, 20mg, 30mg, 40mg, 60mg, 80mg
- Solution: 5mg/5mL
- Concentrate: 20mg/mL
There are many reasons why being able to identify oxycodone pills is important. It will allow patients to know the dose they are about to take to prevent them from using more than they should. It can also provide information to those who deal with at-risk individuals in a clinical setting and work with patients to know which drug they might be using if they aren’t sure.
It’s vital to know that OxyContin is a prescription-only medication and is also a Schedule II drug, according to information from the Drug Enforcement Agency’s Controlled Substances Act. Such drugs can only be prescribed by a medical doctor, as they can determine the optimal dose and duration of treatment to minimize the risk of Oxycodone addiction developing.
Taking Oxycodone with Caution
It’s essential to keep in mind that it is a Schedule II drug, and a medical doctor’s prescription is necessary to obtain it. Misuse of this medication can result in side effects and potentially addiction, overdose, and even death. It should be used only as described in the prescribing information provided by the medical doctor.
